Special Town Meeting

The Special Town Meeting was called to order by First Selectman John Hodge at 5:05 p.m.  After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited, the call of the meeting was read by Janice Zackeo, Town Clerk.  Susan Chapman made a motion to accept the call as read, seconded by John Hodge.  Call passed by voice vote.

First Selectman John Hodge called for nominations for moderator.  John Hodge made a motion to nominate Susan Chapman, seconded by Vincent Mancuso.  Susan Chapman made a motion to close nominations, seconded by John Hodge, approved by voice vote.  Susan Chapman was approved as moderator.

Moderator Chapman read Resolution #1:

Be It Resolved that the adoption of an amendment to the New Fairfield Code of Ordinances to establish a Trust Fund for Town’s retiree health care plan in accordance with CGS 7-450 be approved. 

Moderator Chapman stated that the full proposed amendment to the Town of New Fairfield Ordinances will be attached to these minutes.

John Hodge made a motion to move Resolution #1 to the floor, seconded by Janice Zackeo, approved by voice vote.  Moderator Chapman opened Resolution #1 for discussion.  After discussion by Monika Thiel, Jay Waterman and John Hodge; Vincent Mancuso made a motion to call the question, seconded by John Hodge, approved by voice vote.  Vincent Mancuso made a motion to vote on the Resolution #1, seconded by John Hodge.  Vote on Resolution #1 by hand votes – 3 in favor, 1 opposed and 3 abstentions.  Resolution #1 approved.

Vincent Mancuso made a motion to adjourn, seconded by John Hodge, approved by voice vote.  Meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
