Department Profile 

The primary task of the Assessor's Office is to discover, list and value real estate, motor vehicles and personal property located within the Town of New Fairfield in order to produce an annual Grand List. The procedures to compile the Grand List are governed by the Office of Policy and Management. Property is assessed at 70% of market value as of October 1st. The Assessor's Office grants a variety of state and local exemptions and other forms of tax relief for eligible residents as provided by state law and local ordinances.
