Fundraisers and service projects
help support non-profits in the community. Variety of lively social events held throughout the year.
Volunteers are primarily members.
There are many fundraisers, from Pie and Bake sales to Mother’s Day Plant sale to raise needed funds for town agencies and scholarships.

Hillside Food Outreach Volunteer Opportunity
Hillside Food Outreach is looking for volunteers who do a once-a-month supplemental grocery delivery to our clients in the New Fairfield, CT and Danbury, CT area.
As a volunteer you would pick up groceries at our warehouse in Danbury and deliver them to the client's house. There will be a 30-minute orientation to go over the logistics of delivery etc. prior to beginning deliveries. The food will be to supplement about two weeks' worth of groceries for a household or anywhere for up to 3 or 4 households depending on how much time you have.

Certified CHOICES Counselors provide free and unbiased information to help older adults and disabled persons navigate Medicare and understand their health insurance options.
Western CT Area Agency on Aging provides training to interns and volunteers.
CHOICES counselor speaks with local seniors, persons with a disability and other Medicare beneficiaries or their families.

The Senior Medicare Patrol needs a Volunteer from New Fairfield to work with their team. Offers volunteers the chance to make an important difference in the community and ensure that the Medicare program will be protected for future generations. Senior Medicare Patrol training for new volunteers will be scheduled.

- Participate in office projects, distribute materials to senior centers, assemble supplies for community events
- Meet with beneficiaries to help them understand Medicare Notices and other

New Fairfield Senior Center has a volunteer organization called “Friend of the Senior Center”.
The group helps the Senior Center by raising money through fundraising events held during the year.
The funds are then used to supplement the Center’s programs, trips, events and to purchase needed items, like furniture.
Volunteers are needed to assist at fundraisers and programs, as needed. They welcome anyone who is interested in helping. No age restrictions.

CERT, Community Emergency Response Team, is a training program that prepares you to help yourself, your family , and your neighbors in the event of a disaster.
During an incident, emergency service personnel may not be able to reach everyone right away. By getting trained in CERT, you will have the skills to help emergency responders save lives and protect property.
As a member of a CERT team, you can:
- respond to disasters,
- participate in drills and exercises, and
- take additional training.
CERT teams are known and trusted resources that support emergency responders and the community.
CERT members can volunteer for projects that improve community emergency preparedness.

NFSAW welcomes young animal enthusiasts to become Junior Volunteers (ages 12-17) with a parent or guardian present. Junior Volunteers can participate in activities focused on cat care, offering them a hands-on experience in supporting our feline friends.
In addition, we encourage little ones (under age 12) to get involved through crafting, baking, or holding donation collections for the shelter. It's a fantastic way for the younger members of our community to contribute to the welfare of animals.
Volunteer applications can be found on our website and we hold a Volunteer Orientation that is open to all who are interested once a month.

The New Fairfield Food Pantry touches the lives of people in our community when they need assistance the most. It provides non-perishable food, personal care items and household products to low-income residents who qualify for assistance.
Volunteers are needed periodically to stock items donated to the pantry.
- Donations come in at the discretion of those donating, so volunteers would come in on an as-needed basis
- When Food Drives are held in the Community volunteers are needed to sort out expired items and stock the shelves
- When Pantry stock is low volunteers shop for needed items.

RebelsCare is a teen community service organization providing free services & repairs to Senior Citizens and those in need. The group has performed deck staining, interior & exterior painting and ramp building, among other jobs. Both teens and adults are needed.
Volunteers are needed with all projects and activities like:
- Snow Shoveling Program where teens are matched with Senior homeowners - CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR HELP FOR 2025/2026.
- Annual Fall Leaf Raking for 7 or 8 Senior Citizens
- Teens may work to earn Community Service hours or for payment
